“Assistance from Commonwealth Countries to reduce Corruptions in Local Governance” – Minister Faiszer Musthapha



Commonwealth Local Government Forum Board & Associated Meeting and the workshop themed “Commonwealth Sustainable cities network – 2016”were held at London, from 11th to 13th June 2016. Sri Lanka was represented by the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government (President’s Counsel) Faiszer Musthapha. Minister Faiszer Musthapha exchanged experiences in Local Governance, with the representatives of commonwealth countries.
Expressing his views over the workshop held at London, Minister Musthapha said that the Commonwealth Local Government Forum agreed to assist Sri Lanka to reduce corruption and to enhance the efficiency and the productivity in Local Governance. By this, the Local Authorities will be more friendlyto the public. Common wealth representatives applauded the decision taken by the Sri Lankan Government to increase the Women’s Representation in Local Governance.

Addressing the gathering at the workshop themed “Commonwealth Sustainable cities network - 2016” Minister Musthapha said, “The Sri Lankan government started urban planning several decades ago. Recently the Western Region Mega polis Plan Project (WRMPP) has been developed and implementation was launched in February this year.”
