The next Local Government
elections will be won under the leadership of the President – President’s
Counsel and the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government
FaiszerMusthapha
The SLFP is going to win the next
Local polls with the leadership of the President says the President’s Counsel
and the Provincials Councils and the Local Government Minister
FaiszerMusthapha. Minister Musthapaha states that the measures will be taken to
hold the elections in a mixed system with electoral and preferential voting systems.
He said these ideas yesterday (17) at a ceremony held to distribute exercise
books for 1000 students to celebrate the 1st anniversary of
President Maithripala Sirisena’s ascendance to presidency.
Expressing more at the ceremony,
the President’s counsel and the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local
Government FaiszerMusthapaha said, “In an election it is the politicians that
are elected more than the public representatives. That is why we are taking
measures to hold the next Local government Elections in a mixed system with
both the electoral and preferential voting systems. The politicians at present
depend only on money. President Maithripala Sirisena promised to introduce a voting
system which elects a member of parliament who bares the responsibilities of
the relevant ward. But that could not be done in the previous election. That is
why we are hoping to hold the next Local Government Elections in a mixed system.
Also the President needs to enable the co-existence in the country. Racialism
was spreaded after the war, and for that state
sponsorship also received. The worst perfidy done for our soldiers is spreading
racialism.. “
